It’s incredible what you can do with technology these days. Your phone is also your camera. Your video game console is also a computer. Your iPad is a… guitar and drum set?
While that’s not that hard of a concept to wrap your mind around, the idea of using drumsticks and guitar picks on your iPad is. “Wait, did I just read that correctly?”
Yes, yes you did…
As I’m sure most of you are familiar with, Apple mobile devices have capacitive touchscreens, which require static electricity (from your finger, for example) in order to be used. This protects from unwanted operations performed when inanimate objects accidentally touch the device.
So how can you use an iPad with drum sticks and guitar picks?
Check out Pix And Stix, an incredible accessory concept for Apple GarageBand. Using electro-conducive materials, these specialized musical tools can be used on the iPad or any other capacitive touchscreen.
Of course, with a 9.7-inch screen, rocking out on an iPad will not be nearly the same as playing on a full-size drum set. However, there is a lot of familiarity and muscle memory involved with playing instruments, and I’m sure drummers and guitarists will appreciate the ability to use drumsticks and picks on their iPads as they are so used to doing on their real instruments.
