So you’re probably confused by the title. That’s okay. I am too.
Bring magic to life? How? By using a physical wand that you use to cast virtual spells.
A real world Mass-Multiplayer Online Game? Isn’t that an oxymoron? Well, yes and no. MMO because it’s played in the online community via your smartphone. But real world because you physically walk around and interact with other Incantors. By waving your wand and casting spells. At each other. Like in a duel. Holy shit.
My Harry Potter senses are tingling…
“Tell me more! Tell me more!” you say. Well read on, I say…
With Incantor, you use your smartphone to manage your profile, your spells, your buffs, and your inventory. It also appears that you can use it as a real-time satellite view of the game-map, which is… wait for it… the real world. If you’re in the park, your map shows that park. With you in it. And all of the other Incantors around you.
But what if nobody else around you is into Incantor? There’s plenty of single-player action too. Engage monsters from other realms in your own backyard. Go on quests throughout your neighborhood. And if you run into a fellow Incantor along the way, team up and battle evil together.
Incantor is a Kickstarter project that seems to have a lot of promise. Cool concept, awesome wands, and plenty of wizarding fun to be had. The only thing that worries me is they are asking for $100,000. They are currently at about $7,000 at the time of this writing. So… they have 22 days to raise ninety-three thousand dollars. Yikes.
So what’s so special about this game that people should shell out early money for?
Pledge $10 or more and you get early access to the game. Pick your username before it gets taken, that sorta thing. The more money you donate, of course the more benefits you get. If you pony up $100, you get your own wand. Oh my god I want a wand. I don’t think it comes from Ollivander’s though. $3,500 gets you free wand upgrades for life. $5,000 and you can create your own spell… $7,500 and that spell is yours, and yours alone. And if you really want your own unique Incantor experience, $10,000 will get you your own custom wand.
I am in no way affiliated with Incantor, but this video game just seems damn cool and it deserves support.
