I was enthusiastic about Childish Gambino’s EP, but I absolutely loved the album Camp. In my review of Camp I included the music video for “Bonfire.” Now I have the pleasure of presenting you with the music for “Heartbeat,” which is one of my favorite songs on the album. The music video caught me off guard a bit, as it isn’t at all what I would have expected for a music video of this song.
Instead, what is presented here is an interesting and beautiful video that I think is shot incredibly well and is rather poignant. Check it out and judge for yourself.
The whole riding in the back seat thing is goddamn brilliant. It is such a simple way to convey a complicated and secretive relationship. I love it.
